Sterling Smith has been an active member of the food and beverage industry for more than 35 years and has both executive and restaurant level management experience. Sterling started his leadership career as a Beverage Director for Trusthouse Forte in 1982, joining the opening team for the Excelsior Hotel in Little Rock, Arkansas. Sterling spent 23 years with Dave and Buster's, starting as a manager at the company's first location, and ultimately becoming Senior Vice President of Operations for the company. Mr. Smith left Dave and Buster's in 2006 and later became Vice President of Operations for Movie Tavern Partners, a start-up cinema eatery chain based in Dallas, Texas. In 2008, Mr. Smith left Movie Tavern and started his own business, Sterling Leadership Consulting, LLC, specializing in leadership development for operational excellence. Most recently, Sterling became the Tennessee and south Texas Franchise Market Partner with Gecko Hospitality, the nation's premier hospitality management recruitment firm.

Sterling belongs to several professional organizations, serving as honorary member of the Hospitality Millennium Advisory Board, and the Oxford Press Nightclub and Bar Advisory Board. Sterling has served on the Administrative Board of Whites Chapel United Methodist Church in Southlake, Texas for over ten years. In 2009, Sterling began volunteering at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Smith has been married for 24 years. He and his wife, Susan, have three children - Jake, Lucy, and Sam. Mr. Smith loves the outdoors and is an avid hiker, camper, and tri-athlete.
