Always, before going on interviews, it is so valuable to have knowledge of the concept with which you are interviewing. In today’s technologically advanced society, there are so many ways to go about this. Going to an interview and not having any information on the concept is a sure way to not get the job.
Of course, nothing surpasses going to the restaurant and enjoying the dining experience with fresh eyes, as a potential employee yet from the guest’s perspective. In the interview, you are able to convey this and give specific compliments. Be careful not to give many criticisms, most people are proud of their companies. But this does give you an opportunity to find out if it’s a place you see yourself. Often, we will let you know that the perspective employer would like to interview you right away. At this time you should go online to gain as much information as possible.
By going online to the company’s website, you can familiarize yourself with the concept. Important information that most companies put on their website are under the “About Us” tabs. This gives a great history of the concept and gives you a sense of their cultures and philosophies. You should also find out where their restaurants are located as well as their corporate offices. You can also use Google Search to find out financial & other information about the company.
Occasionally, as recruiters, we receive feedback that the candidate knew very little about the concept. This is embarrassing and there are no excuses for it. We suggest going above and beyond in obtaining information on the concept. Being armed with as much knowledge about the company as possible proves your intense interest in the position and makes a huge impression.
