Jeff started his career in the Restaurant Industry passing out samples in front of Chick-fil-A at the local Mall in Ohio He never thought he would decide on a Career in the Hospitality Industry. He attended Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio where he studied Music Education. Jeff worked in a 50's Theme Diner called "Rock-a Billy Cafe" while he was home for summer and holiday breaks. In between dancing on tables to Juke Box Music, hula-hooping, and singing obnoxious Birthday Songs, he took an interest in Restaurant Management. He has been a Manager for Lonestar Steakhouse and Saloon and was most recently a Manager for Darden Restaurants(Smokey Bones).

Jeff joined the Gecko Team in 2008. He is responsible for the Ohio and Kentucky Market. "The Best part about being a Recruiter is that I have the opportunity to work with candidates from all different backgrounds and experience levels. Just like Restaurant Management, there is never a dull moment." He is very active as a Mentor with The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation's Team Challenge Program. He has completed two half Marathons with Team Challenge. Jeff loves watching University of Kentucky Basketball, Traveling, and Spending time with his Partner Maurice and their Miniature Schnauzer(Baxter). He currently lives in West Carrollton, Ohio.

We would like to recommend the recruiting services of Gecko Hospitality. We spoke with Joan Koelbel, and she immediately understood our mission to find a qualified General Manager. I was skeptical because the market where we wanted the General Manager is remote.

Trying to find solid talent in remote markets is increasingly difficult today. They followed the process and were ready to help. We now have a General Manager that we otherwise would have missed! We were able to secure the opening in three weeks.
