On January 13, 2020 Franchise Partner Evan Kaplan, along with Recruiter Sara Sheiffele, had the pleasure of representing Gecko Hospitality at the New England Club Managers Association’s annual Business Expo. The expo was held at the beautiful Andover Country Club in Andover, MA and hosted by Francisco Ventura, CCM, and Boyd Holk, CCM, CCE. This educational meeting provided NECMA members networking opportunities as well as a chance to expand their skillsets.
Program Speakers included:
- Judith Bowman- Author, speaker, consultant, business protocol coach, syndicated journalist, and most notably president & founder of Protocol Consultants International
- Tracy Thomas Boland- Partner at Morgan Brown & Joy LLP
- Josh Perlman- Consulting Associate for The Ken Blanchard Companies®
- Mark Forsyth- Senior Vice President of Global Business Development for The Ken Blanchard Companies® and the NECMA Program’s Master of Ceremonies
The Ken Blanchard Companies® facilitated an Educational Workshop on “Executive Presence.” Participants were offered new actionable skills to enhance their communication proficiency, strengthen leadership influence and encourage a stronger network of connections. Those actionable skills included: Handshaking, Introductions, Body Language, Remembering Names, Networking and How to Work a Room, Boardroom Protocol, and many more.
Josh Perlman, of The Ken Blanchard Companies® also spoke on the theory of Situational Leadership® II (SLII®.) The foundation of SLII lies in teaching leaders to diagnose the needs of an individual or a team and then use the appropriate leadership style to respond to their needs in that situation.
Tracy Thomas Boland gave a legal update on Employment Law issues, including hiring & firing, performance management, investigations, wage & hour matters, leaves of absence, the accommodations process, and issues of discrimination & harassment.
Judith Bowman touched on using positive reinforcement and taking the engaging interactive approach to help leaders confidently cultivate and fine-tune their executive presence. She showed members how to earn respect to achieve leadership distinction, and how critical communication skills help to leverage everyday business situations.
According to Evan, “Battle of the Chefs was a hit again and it was great to meet with Club Managers we have placed in the New England market and potential clubs we will be partnering with in the future!”
Thanks again to Evan and Sara for representing Gecko Hospitality at their local CMAA (England Club Managers Association’s Annual Business Expo) Chapter’s Business Expo and exemplifying the Gecko Hospitality drive and passion!
