Banquet Chef – Staten Island, NY

Position Summary:
The Banquet Chef is responsible for leading all culinary execution for weddings, private events, corporate functions, and large-scale banquets. This role ensures consistent food quality, efficient production, and flawless presentation while managing a high-performing kitchen team in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prepare, and execute banquet menus for events of varying sizes and formats
  • Lead and supervise the banquet kitchen team, including sous chefs, line cooks, and prep staff
  • Ensure all food is prepared and presented to high standards of quality, consistency, and timing
  • Coordinate closely with sales, events, and front-of-house teams to ensure seamless execution
  • Oversee production schedules and prep lists to meet event timelines efficiently
  • Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
  • Manage inventory, ordering, receiving, and food cost controls to stay within budget targets
  • Assist in developing seasonal menus and customized event offerings
  • Conduct pre-event walkthroughs and post-event evaluations to ensure operational excellence
  • Step into any kitchen role as needed to support large-scale service execution
Qualifications:
  • 4–7 years of culinary experience, with strong banquet or high-volume event experience preferred
  • Proven leadership experience in a kitchen supervisory or sous chef role
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple events
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen sanitation practices
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred
