Sous Chef – Lincoln, Nebraska

Salary: $50,000–$60,000


We are seeking a skilled Sous Chef to join a premier club in Lincoln, Nebraska. This role serves as the second-in-command of the kitchen, assisting the Executive Chef with food production across all dining outlets, banquet events, and club functions. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a passion for quality, and the ability to maintain high culinary standards in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise kitchen staff and oversee preparation of soups, sauces, and daily specials according to standardized recipes
  • Assist in monthly inventory, pricing, food cost controls, requisitioning, and issuing of supplies
  • Lead the kitchen in the Executive Chef’s absence
  • Support in staff training, sanitation practices, and safety compliance
  • Ensure food quality, consistency, and presentation standards are maintained
  • Monitor staffing levels and control labor and food costs for maximum efficiency
  • Participate in equipment maintenance and energy conservation planning
  • Prepare schedules, cost menus, and handle administrative tasks
  • Work any station as needed and oversee buffet presentations
  • Coordinate with dining service staff and expedite food orders during peak service times
  • Assist in food procurement, delivery, storage, and inventory security
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate kitchen team performance
  • Respond to and help resolve member/guest complaints


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a high-volume kitchen or similar culinary leadership role
  • Strong understanding of kitchen operations, cost control, and team management
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to culinary excellence
