Job Description
We are seeking a Director of Engineering for our 120+ room full-service, luxury, independent hotel in beautiful Nashville, Tennessee. Our Director of Engineering will oversee all aspects of engineering and maintenance operations, as well as our security team within the property. This role will ensure the property's infrastructure, facilities, and technical systems are maintained at the highest standards to exceed guest expectations. The Director of Engineering will lead a skilled team, develop preventative maintenance programs, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. As a key member of the hotel's leadership team, this position will report directly to the General Manager and work closely with other department heads to achieve organizational goals.

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of skilled engineers and technicians to ensure efficient and effective maintenance and operation of the hotel's infrastructure, facilities, and technical systems.
- Develop preventative maintenance programs to proactively address potential issues before they become major problems.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective measures.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards, as well as all relevant laws and codes.
- Oversee the budget for engineering operations to ensure cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Collaborate with other department heads to plan, coordinate, and execute projects that improve the guest experience.
- Stay updated on industry developments and advancements in engineering technology to continuously improve operations and efficiency.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and contractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Create training programs for engineering staff to enhance their skills and knowledge, promoting career growth within the department.
- Encourage a culture of innovation and creativity within the engineering team to drive continuous improvement and find innovative solutions for challenges.
- Foster a safe work environment by implementing safety protocols, providing necessary training, and promptly addressing potential hazards.
- Attend conferences, seminars, and workshops related to facility management.
- Join professional organizations such as the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) or the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM).
- Pursue certifications such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Facility Management Professional (FMP), or Sustainability Facility Professional (SFP).

Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering or property maintenance managerial role in a full-service or luxury hotel/resort, preferably an independent hotel or resort.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to engineering and safety.
- Experience with budget management and project planning
- Strong knowledge of building systems, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and energy management.
