Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant General Manager (AGM) to join the leadership team of our limited-select hotel just north of Boston. The AGM will work directly with the General Manager to oversee all aspects of hotel operations, ensuring the delivery of exceptional guest service and the achievement of financial goals. This position requires a hands-on leader dedicated to operational excellence, staff development, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance.


The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in hotel management, demonstrating strong leadership capabilities and a commitment to fostering a positive and productive work environment. This role is integral to driving guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.

 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage day-to-day hotel operations, including front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and guest services. Ensure seamless coordination between departments to provide a superior guest experience.
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management of hotel staff. Mentor department heads and team members to cultivate a culture of high performance and professional growth.
  • Champion guest service initiatives, promptly resolve guest complaints, and implement strategies to increase guest loyalty and satisfaction scores. Monitor online reviews and guest feedback to identify areas for improvement.
  • Support the General Manager in budget preparation, expense control, and revenue management. Analyze financial reports and operational data to optimize profitability and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure the property is maintained in accordance with brand standards and company policies. Uphold compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including health, safety, and labor laws.
  • Act as the Manager on Duty in the absence of the General Manager, making key operational decisions and providing leadership to the entire hotel team.

 

Qualifications

  • Must have Marriott management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, Business Administration, or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive management experience within the hotel industry, with a preference for candidates who have experience in a limited-select or select-service environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team. Must possess exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are required to effectively interact with guests, staff, and corporate leadership.
  • Proficient in property management systems (PMS), Microsoft Office Suite, and other industry-standard software.
