Job Description
Job Title
Restaurant Manager
High Volume Bar and Restaurant Concept
San Diego CA
Position Overview
This is a senior level bar and restaurant leadership role within a highly visible, bar driven concept located in a premier San Diego shopping destination. The operation blends elevated cocktails, quality food execution, and relaxed but polished hospitality in a fast paced, guest facing environment.
This position functions very similarly to a General Manager role, with full ownership of daily operations, team leadership, and financial performance. The right leader will be highly present on the floor, comfortable leading in a lifestyle driven brand environment, and confident managing both people and the business.
Concept and Ambience
The concept is inspired by island style hospitality with a strong focus on craft cocktails, approachable food, and an upbeat social atmosphere. Guests include a mix of destination diners, retail traffic, and mall guests, which creates consistent volume and high visibility.
Leaders are expected to represent the brand through professionalism, service style, and personal presence. This is not a back of house management role. Visibility, polish, and engagement on the floor are essential.
Key Responsibilities
• Full ownership of bar and restaurant operations
• Leading and developing a strong management and hourly team
• Driving guest experience and service standards
• Managing labor, scheduling, and productivity
• Overseeing bar performance and beverage execution
• Maintaining brand standards and service consistency
• Acting as the primary leader during peak service periods
• Creating a positive, respectful, and accountable team culture
P and L and Business Ownership
This role requires strong business acumen and financial ownership. Candidates should be comfortable discussing how their decisions impact profitability.
Responsibilities include
• Managing labor and staffing strategy
• Controlling beverage cost and bar margins
• Understanding sales trends and revenue drivers
• Reviewing monthly P and L statements
• Identifying variances and correcting overspend
• Improving margins while protecting guest experience
• Coaching managers and staff on business awareness
You do not need to be an accountant, but you must clearly understand how to run a profitable operation.
Leadership and Culture Expectations
Culture fit is critical. The ideal leader is calm, consistent, people focused, and professional under pressure.
Strong leaders in this environment
• Lead by example on the floor
• Set clear expectations and follow through
• Hold standards without ego or intimidation
• Build trust and accountability within the team
• Stay composed during high volume service
• Balance care for the guest and the team
This is a hands on leadership role that values maturity, presence, and emotional intelligence.
Ideal Background
• Senior bar manager, restaurant manager, or general manager experience
• Strong beverage and bar driven background preferred
• Experience managing high volume service
• Proven P and L ownership
• Ability to lead diverse teams in a fast paced environment
• Polished, guest facing leadership style
Schedule and Compensation
• Hourly role
• Starting at $25 per hour
• Approximately 50 hours per week
• Monthly bonus potential
• Full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401k, and PTO
Why This Role
This is an opportunity to step into a high profile leadership position within a lifestyle driven concept where culture, hospitality, and business ownership all matter. The role is ideal for a leader who wants real responsibility, visibility, and the ability to run the business like an owner rather than simply managing shifts.
