A prestigious hotel and event venue in Staten Island, NY is seeking an experienced Banquet & Event Chef to oversee culinary operations for banquets, weddings, corporate events, and private functions. The ideal candidate is a skilled and organized culinary professional with experience in large-scale event production, strong leadership abilities, and a passion for delivering high-quality, memorable dining experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and execute all banquet and event menus in collaboration with the culinary and events teams.
- Lead, train, and supervise banquet and kitchen staff to ensure efficient, high-quality food production.
- Ensure all food is prepared according to established recipes, portioning, and presentation standards.
- Manage inventory, order supplies, and monitor food costs to maintain budgetary goals.
- Collaborate with event managers to ensure smooth service and seamless execution of events.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Oversee the setup, presentation, and breakdown of banquet events.
- Assist in menu development, seasonal offerings, and special event concepts.
- Monitor staff performance, provide guidance, and foster a professional, collaborative work environment.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in banquet, catering, or high-volume event culinary operations.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage large-scale events and a diverse culinary team.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and cost-control procedures.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
