Job Summary
The Sous Chef supports the Executive Chef and culinary leadership team in overseeing daily kitchen operations while ensuring consistent food quality, strong team performance, and adherence to culinary and safety standards. This hands-on leadership role plays a critical part in executing service, developing staff, and maintaining operational efficiency in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in managing all back-of-house operations, including prep, service, and sanitation
  • Lead kitchen teams during service, ensuring quality, consistency, and proper execution
  • Support menu execution and recipe adherence, including dietary and allergen-sensitive items
  • Train, coach, and develop line cooks and prep staff to maintain high performance standards
  • Help manage food costs, inventory, ordering, and waste control
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
  • Collaborate with Executive Chef on scheduling, labor management, and kitchen organization
  • Maintain cleanliness, equipment standards, and proper storage procedures
  • Step into a leadership role during the Executive Chef’s absence
Qualifications
  • 2–4 years of culinary leadership experience in a high-volume, scratch kitchen environment
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen operations, and food safety standards
  • Experience with allergen awareness and dietary accommodations preferred
  • Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced service environment
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills
  • Passion for quality ingredients, consistency, and guest satisfaction
  • Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in polished-casual or upscale casual dining concepts
  • Strong expediting and line leadership skills
  • Ability to train and motivate diverse culinary teams
  • Detail-oriented with a calm, solutions-focused approach
