An upscale dining restaurant in the Marlboro, NJ area is seeking an experienced and hospitality-driven Executive Chef to lead kitchen operations, elevate the guest experience, and develop a strong culinary team culture.
This role is ideal for a chef who combines strong culinary talent with humility, leadership, and operational discipline. The right candidate understands that great kitchens are built through consistency, mentorship, accountability, and a genuine passion for hospitality.
Responsibilities
- Lead all back-of-house culinary operations in a high-quality upscale dining environment
- Create and maintain exceptional food quality, presentation, and consistency standards
- Train, coach, mentor, and develop kitchen team members while building a positive culture
- Manage scheduling, labor controls, food costs, purchasing, and inventory
- Maintain strong vendor relationships and oversee product quality and ordering
- Ensure all sanitation, food safety, and health department standards are consistently exceeded
- Collaborate with ownership and leadership on menu development, seasonal features, and operational improvements
- Lead by example during service with a hands-on management style
- Foster strong communication and teamwork between front and back of house
Qualifications
- Proven Executive Chef experience in upscale dining
- Strong culinary foundation with a passion for food quality and guest experience
- Hospitality-forward leadership style with the ability to remain confident yet approachable
- Demonstrated success developing and retaining kitchen talent
- Strong understanding of food cost controls, labor management, and kitchen financials
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, service-focused environment
- Stable work history with progressive leadership growth preferred
- ServSafe certification preferred
