An upscale dining restaurant in the Marlboro, NJ area is seeking a talented and hospitality-driven Sous Chef to join its culinary leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for a chef who is passionate about food, thrives in a polished and professional kitchen environment, and understands the importance of leadership, teamwork, and consistency.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, organized, and committed to delivering a high-quality guest experience through exceptional execution and strong kitchen leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Executive Chef in all daily back-of-house operations 
  • Lead and supervise kitchen staff during service while maintaining quality and consistency 
  • Assist with training, coaching, and developing culinary team members 
  • Ensure proper food preparation, presentation, and execution standards are maintained 
  • Help manage inventory, ordering, food cost controls, and waste reduction 
  • Maintain sanitation, food safety, and cleanliness standards at all times 
  • Step into leadership responsibilities in the Executive Chef’s absence 
  • Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented kitchen culture 
  • Assist with menu execution, specials, and operational improvements 
Qualifications
  • Previous Sous Chef or strong kitchen leadership experience in upscale dining 
  • Strong culinary skills with attention to detail and presentation 
  • Ability to lead calmly and effectively in a fast-paced environment 
  • Passion for hospitality, teamwork, and guest satisfaction 
  • Knowledge of food cost management, prep systems, and kitchen organization 
  • Strong communication and leadership skills 
  • Hands-on leadership style with a willingness to work alongside the team 
  • ServSafe certification preferred
