About Cindy
Cindy Broome is a restaurant recruiter with Gecko Hospitality serving the Ohio, Tennessee market. Cindy’s focus: Restaurant recruiting and staffing (Tennessee and Central Ohio). Began in the restaurant business in high school. Married and a proud mother of five and grandmother of seven, Cindy enjoys spending quality time with family and friends. Outside of family time, she enjoys family league bowling and cheering on the Gamecocks during football season.

Background & Experience
Began in the restaurant business in high school; 25 years fulfilling client and customer staffing needs; relationship- and ethics-focused (no named employers on page).

Areas of Focus
Positions: General Manager and Assistant General Manager; Kitchen Manager and Executive Chef; Multi-unit, area, and district leaders; Director and senior operations roles

Markets served: Ohio, Tennessee.

How Cindy Evaluates Talent
The areas I focus on when evaluating a restaurant leadership candidate are P&L and financial ownership, team leadership and retention, operational excellence, leadership under pressure, and concept and culture fit.

Cindy’s Market Perspective |
Tennessee: the hiring market is good for job seekers, but softer and more selective than it was a couple of years ago, and long-term demand looks strong. The market is becoming more competitive, and operators are watching labor costs closely. Ohio: I’d describe the restaurant hiring market as solid, but clearly cooler than the post-pandemic hiring boom. Ohio is a good market if you’re willing to pay competitively and move quickly on strong candidates; you have more leverage than you did a few years ago. The biggest thing I’d emphasize is that Ohio’s restaurant market isn’t really an ‘everyone is desperate for workers’ market anymore. It’s becoming a quality-of-candidate market.

Advice
For employers: Be prepared with a clear job description, compensation range, location, and ideal candidate profile before starting your search with Gecko Hospitality, and define the must-haves versus the nice-to-haves.

For candidates: Be ready to show confidence, professionalism, and adaptability; problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities; the ability to explain your past experience using specific examples; and relevant skills and technical knowledge.

In Cindy’s Words
“Great restaurants are built by great people. Our job is to help you find them.”

Testimonials
“I first moved to Ohio a year ago. While looking for a job, Cindy found me, and not only did she have me working within the week, she also got me what I was asking for and more. I had to leave that opportunity, and when I did I reached out to Cindy again and she had me working within the week again. I say with every ounce of my being, Cindy is your go-to, always. Thanks again, Cindy!”

“Great, encouraging and supportive!”

“It was a great experience. Cindy Broome got me in front of the people at the concept I wanted and consistently followed up and checked in through every step of the process. Even checked in after I got the position.”

“This was my first time working with Gecko, but I feel extremely lucky to be with such a great recruiter. Cindy Broome was amazing during this process!”
Shareef S.  (Successfully placed candidate, 5-star review, 2026)

“So I started my job search like any normal person, expecting the regular cat-and-mouse game. Then, without knowing, I got a call back from this hiring agency. Usually I would have assumed the worst, that I was gonna be ‘placed’ at some dead-end, doesn’t-pay-enough type of job, but I couldn’t be more wrong. The person that called was Cindy, and she changed my life. She got me connected with a wonderful company, with the position I wanted and a clear career path. She was patient and on top of things to bridge the gap between the company and me. She made sure all my questions were answered and made sure I was asking the questions that needed to be asked. Cindy really walked with me through this whole experience, and now I’m at the company that fits me, and I’m forever grateful.”
