Job Overview:
We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Sous Chef to join our culinary team at an upscale restaurant in Southampton. As the Sous Chef, you will play a key role in the kitchen’s daily operations, working closely with the Executive Chef to ensure exceptional food quality, presentation, and consistency. The ideal candidate will have a passion for culinary excellence, leadership experience, and a strong work ethic in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Executive Chef in managing all kitchen operations, ensuring the highest quality of food preparation and presentation.
  • Supervise and lead kitchen staff, including cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation.
  • Help create and execute seasonal menus that align with the restaurant’s concept and offer unique, high-quality dishes.
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards, ensuring all kitchen staff adhere to proper hygiene and safety protocols.
  • Train and mentor kitchen staff, providing guidance and development opportunities to foster a positive and productive team environment.
  • Ensure food is prepared in a timely manner and meets the restaurant’s standards for quality, taste, and presentation.
  • Assist in managing inventory, ordering supplies, and controlling food costs to maintain budgetary guidelines.
  • Oversee kitchen cleanliness and organization, ensuring that workstations, equipment, and storage areas are maintained to a high standard.
  • Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless communication between the kitchen and dining room, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Handle customer feedback, complaints, and special dietary requests, ensuring that all concerns are addressed professionally and promptly.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience as a Sous Chef, Line Cook, or similar role in a high-end or fine-dining restaurant.
  • Strong culinary skills with a thorough understanding of kitchen operations, food preparation, and presentation.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience, with the ability to motivate and train kitchen staff.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation regulations, and health compliance.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
