Director of Sales
Position Summary: The Director of Sales serves as the property's chief storyteller and brand ambassador, driving topline revenue and positioning the hotel as a market leader. This role involves coaching a high-performing team, fostering community relationships, and leveraging on-site amenities to enhance market appeal.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a sales strategy aligned with the hotel's luxury positioning.
- Identify and target key market segments such as corporate clients, group bookings, and local partnerships.
- Collaborate with In-house Food and Beverage venues to enhance its appeal for increased local patronage and event bookings.
- Build lasting relationships with corporate clients and local businesses to secure repeat business.
- Partner with the General Manager and Marketing team to create enticing guest promotions.
- Conduct market research to stay ahead of trends, making informed decisions to retain a competitive edge.
- Negotiate favorable contracts and agreements ensuring hotel profitability.
- Analyze sales reports and performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Lead, manage, and mentor the sales team, setting clear goals for success.
- Work with Revenue Management to optimize pricing strategies.
- Ensure exceptional customer service from the sales team, exceeding guest expectations.
- Provide training and development opportunities, staying updated on industry best practices.
- Address guest feedback to maintain and improve the hotel's reputation.
- Engage with all hotel departments to promote teamwork and effective communication.
- Contribute to the hotel's executive culture through Servant Leadership.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Catering Sales Manager and Sales Coordinator.
Job Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Hospitality Management, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience & Qualifications:
- Proven sales leadership experience in hospitality, exceeding revenue targets.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Strong leadership with the ability to motivate and mentor.
- Knowledge of the Mobile, Alabama market with a strong local network.
- Familiarity with the luxury hotel sector's challenges and opportunities.
- Proficiency in sales management software and CRM systems.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects.
- Proactive, results-driven, and flexible with working hours.
Working Conditions:
- Perform tasks indoors with moderate temperatures and occasional exposure to extreme conditions.
- Sit for up to 5 hours daily with remaining time on tasks requiring walking/standing.
- Able to lift up to 15 lbs. and perform various physical tasks.
- Frequent communication with guests, supervisors, and subordinates.
- Work primarily in an office environment with high guest contact and potential stress.
Equipment:
- Use of computers, multi-line phones, photocopiers, and other office equipment.
Work Environment:
- Position is office-based with high guest interaction.
- Ability to work effectively under stress and adapt to frequent changes.
