Job Description

Job Title: Chief Engineer – Leadership Meets Technical Mastery

About the Role

We’re looking for a Chief Engineer who thrives at the intersection of technical expertise, project leadership, and people management. This is not a “keep the lights on” position—it’s an opportunity to take ownership of a complex, multi-project environment where your ability to lead, innovate, and communicate will directly shape operational success.

You’ll be the go-to leader for everything from major construction initiatives to intricate maintenance challenges, ensuring projects run smoothly, teams perform at their best, and standards remain uncompromisingly high.

What You’ll Be Driving

  • Lead and inspire a diverse team of 15–16 staff and contractors, fostering a culture of accountability, precision, and collaboration.
  • Manage multiple high-impact projects simultaneously—think elevator upgrades, construction work, office build-outs, and large-scale maintenance initiatives.
  • Own the operational heartbeat of the property, from budget oversight to quality control, ensuring every project is on time, on budget, and exceeds expectations.
  • Build strong vendor relationships and negotiate contracts that deliver both value and quality.
  • Navigate seamlessly between executive strategy meetings and on-the-ground problem-solving.
  • Read and interpret technical diagrams and plans, ensuring work is executed correctly the first time.
  • Serve as the communication bridge between leadership, staff, and Spanish-speaking vendors/partners.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Chief Engineer, Director of Engineering, or equivalent leadership role in a high-complexity operation.
  • Demonstrated success managing multi-million-dollar projects from concept to completion.
  • Strong leadership style that commands respect while fostering team unity—able to “take charge” without disrupting established dynamics.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish for seamless communication across teams and vendors.
  • Preferred certifications: HVAC Universal Certification, CPO, or similar.
  • A track record of job stability (minimum two years in recent roles).
  • A balance of hands-on technical skills and executive-level decision-making.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • You’ll have the autonomy to lead your department without layers of corporate red tape—the decisions you make will have immediate impact.
  • Every day will bring a mix of strategic planning, technical problem-solving, and team leadership.
  • Competitive salary in the $95K–$110K range, plus benefits, with the potential for growth into larger-scale leadership roles.

If you’re the kind of leader who gets energized by solving complex problems, leading high-performing teams, and leaving a lasting mark on an operation—this is your stage.
