Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant General Manager (AGM) to join the leadership team of our flagship restaurant, a premier three-meal dining destination with annual revenues exceeding $7 million. This is a critical leadership role for a hospitality professional with a proven track record in high-volume operations. The AGM will partner with the General Manager to oversee all facets of front-of-house operations, with a significant focus on team development, maintaining exceptional service standards, and driving financial performance.
This position is designed for a motivated leader aiming for career progression. Based on consistent, high-level performance and demonstrated leadership capabilities, the successful candidate will be on a direct path to a General Manager position within our organization in 18-24 months.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Excellence: Direct daily restaurant operations for breakfast, lunch, and dinner services, ensuring seamless execution, optimal staffing levels, and adherence to all health and safety regulations.
- Team Leadership & Development: Actively recruit, train, and mentor the management team and hourly staff. Foster a positive and professional work environment that emphasizes growth, accountability, and continuous improvement. Conduct regular performance reviews and create development plans for direct reports.
- Guest Satisfaction: Champion a guest-first culture by upholding and elevating service standards. Address guest feedback and concerns with professionalism and efficiency, using insights to implement service enhancements.
- Financial Acumen: Assist the General Manager in managing the restaurant's P&L, budgeting, and forecasting. Monitor and control labor and operating costs without compromising quality or guest experience. Analyze sales data to identify opportunities for revenue growth.
- Beverage Program Management: Utilize a strong knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits to support inventory management, cost control, and staff education. Ensure the beverage program is executed to the highest standard, contributing to both guest experience and profitability.
- Standards & Quality Control: Consistently monitor and enforce all company policies, procedures, and quality standards, from food presentation and service protocols to facility cleanliness and maintenance.
Qualifications and Experience
- Required Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of leadership experience in a full-service restaurant. Must have prior experience as an Assistant General Manager or General Manager in a high-volume establishment (minimum $5 million in annual sales).
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and develop managers and staff. Must possess a genuine passion for mentorship and team building.
- Beverage Knowledge: A solid and comprehensive understanding of wine, beer, and liquor is essential. Experience with inventory management, ordering, and vendor relations is highly preferred.
- Business Acumen: Strong grasp of restaurant financial, including P&L statements, cost control, and labor management.
- Service Orientation: An unwavering commitment to delivering superior guest satisfaction and the ability to inspire that commitment in others.
- Personal Attributes: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Must be a proactive problem-solver with the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
