Role Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and operationally sharp Assistant General Manager to join the leadership team at our modern, upscale select-service hotel. You will serve as the right hand to the General Manager, playing a vital role in driving operational excellence, fostering a positive team environment, and ensuring an exceptional experience for every guest. This position is ideal for an experienced hospitality leader ready to take the next step in their career, overseeing day-to-day operations and contributing to the property's long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
As the Assistant General Manager, you will be a key driver of our hotel's performance. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Guest Experience Leadership: Champion a culture of outstanding service, proactively engaging with guests to ensure satisfaction, and skillfully resolving any issues to turn challenges into opportunities for loyalty.
- Front Office & Housekeeping Operations: Direct all front office operations to ensure efficiency and accuracy, from check-in to check-out. You will coordinate closely with the Housekeeping department to guarantee room readiness, cleanliness, and brand standard compliance.
- Food & Beverage Oversight: Manage the daily operations of our complimentary breakfast, lobby bar, and 24/7 grab-and-go market, including inventory management, cost controls, and ensuring adherence to all health and safety protocols.
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead by example to inspire and motivate the team. You will be responsible for staff scheduling, labor management, training, coaching, and performance management to build a high-performing and engaged workforce.
- Financial & Revenue Management: Support the General Manager in revenue management strategies, financial reporting, and budgeting. You will monitor key performance indicators, manage operational costs, and oversee night audit processes to ensure financial accuracy.
- Operational Excellence: Maintain rigorous compliance with all property standards, safety regulations, and security procedures. You will manage vendor relationships and conduct regular property inspections to uphold our commitment to quality.
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with a proven track record of leadership and a passion for hospitality.
- A minimum of 2-4 years of progressive leadership experience in hotel operations, with a preference for roles such as Front Office Manager, Operations Manager, or a similar supervisory position.
- Experience within a select-service or focused-service hotel environment is highly preferred.
- Strong familiarity with hotel Property Management Systems (PMS).
- Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling and labor management to optimize staffing levels and control costs effectively.
- Solid financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and analyzing financial reports. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets is essential.
- Working knowledge of alcohol service regulations. ServSafe and/or TIPS certification is a significant plus.
- Exceptional communication and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to lead and develop a diverse team.
- Must have a flexible schedule and be able to work variable shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by business needs.
How Success is Measured
Your performance will be evaluated based on your ability to positively influence key metrics, including:
- Guest Satisfaction: Guest Satisfaction Survey (GSS) or Net Promoter Score (NPS) improvements.
- Financial Performance: Contribution to RevPAR and ADR growth, and adherence to labor percentage budgets.
- Operational Efficiency: Reduction in inventory shrink/waste and strong quality assurance audit scores.
- Team Stability: High rates of training completion and a reduction in employee turnover.
