Job Summary
The Maître d’ & Dining Room Captain serves as the face of the dining room, setting the tone for exceptional hospitality from the moment guests arrive. This role is responsible for managing reservations and guest flow, leading front-of-house service during service periods, and ensuring a polished, seamless dining experience that reflects the restaurant’s standards of excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet and welcome guests professionally, managing reservations, walk-ins, and table flow
  • Oversee dining room operations during service, ensuring smooth pacing and attentive service
  • Lead, support, and direct servers, bussers, and support staff on the floor
  • Maintain service standards, table presentation, and overall dining room appearance
  • Act as the primary point of contact for guest feedback, resolving concerns with professionalism and care
  • Coordinate closely with kitchen leadership to manage timing, coursing, and special requests
  • Assist with staff training, coaching, and performance feedback
  • Monitor guest satisfaction throughout the dining experience to ensure consistency and repeat business
  • Support private events and special dining experiences as needed
  • Uphold all service, safety, and sanitation standards
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of front-of-house leadership experience in an upscale or fine-casual dining environment
  • Strong knowledge of service standards, dining room etiquette, and guest relations
  • Experience managing reservations systems and floor plans
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Professional demeanor with a warm, guest-focused approach
  • Ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced service environment
  • Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Skills
  • Background in Italian cuisine and wine service
  • Experience training and mentoring service staff
  • Strong floor leadership with attention to detail and timing
  • Ability to balance hospitality with operational efficiency
