We're looking for an exceptional and visionary Executive Chef to lead our culinary team at a beautiful new rooftop restaurant in Birmingham. This is an opportunity to create world-class guest experiences while driving business success and setting the highest quality standards.
As Executive Chef, you'll serve as a key member of the Property Leadership Team, overseeing all kitchen operations, developing culinary talent, and leading recruitment and strategic planning. You'll be empowered to make a true impact—this is your kitchen to lead.
What You'll Do
- Lead, develop, and inspire culinary team members through structured training, mentorship, and in-the-moment coaching to uphold world-class culinary standards and support professional growth
- Shape kitchen strategy and vision, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and building high-performing teams
- Own P&L responsibility including labor cost optimization, food cost control, inventory management, and strategic financial planning
- Drive operational excellence by implementing quality and safety standards across all culinary operations, ensuring regulatory compliance
- Lead service execution through menu development, line checks, monitoring food preparation, and expediting to maintain exceptional guest experiences
- Partner with leadership to develop seasonal menus, culinary programming, and innovative dining experiences that align with brand vision
- Document key updates and insights to ensure alignment, enhance team performance, and support ongoing operational excellence
- Deliver exceptional results in our dynamic business while championing our hospitality vision, strategy, and financial goals
- Provide full culinary leadership and operational oversight, ensuring seamless execution and team alignment
What You Bring
- 5+ years of Executive Chef or Chef de Cuisine experience in high-volume, full-service restaurants, fine dining, or upscale hospitality environments
- Proven ability to manage financial performance, including full P&L responsibility, labor and food costs, inventory controls, and strategic resource planning
- Expertise in computer systems including Microsoft Excel, inventory management systems (Foodager or similar), and email communication
- Advanced culinary expertise, including mastery of knife techniques, menu development, and execution of high-level cooking standards across all cuisines
- Proven ability to work autonomously while making strategic decisions and collaborating effectively across all leadership levels
- Strong leadership presence with ability to inspire teams and foster a culture of excellence
- Experience opening new concepts or leading culinary transformations preferred
Physical Requirements
- Frequently moving and lifting items up to 50 lbs while utilizing appropriate equipment and following safety guidelines
- Work standing and walking for extended periods of time
