Overview
A fast growing Southern California based restaurant group is seeking a Kitchen Manager to lead back of house operations at a high volume, Baja inspired fast casual restaurant. The concept is known for authentic street style tacos, fresh pressed tortillas, and a high energy service environment.
This is a hands on leadership role focused on kitchen execution, food quality, team development, and operational consistency. The Kitchen Manager plays a key role in supporting daily operations while helping develop a strong, accountable BOH team.
Key Responsibilities
Back of House Leadership
• Oversee daily kitchen operations and execution during all service periods
• Ensure consistent food quality, taste, and presentation
• Lead and support the BOH team during high volume rushes
• Maintain recipe adherence and portion control standards
Training and Team Development
• Train, coach, and develop kitchen team members
• Set clear expectations for performance, cleanliness, and food safety
• Build a positive, disciplined, and accountable kitchen culture
• Support hiring and onboarding of BOH team members
Food Safety and Sanitation
• Ensure all food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards are met
• Maintain proper labeling, storage, and temperature controls
• Enforce safe work practices and kitchen organization
• Ensure compliance with all local health regulations
Inventory and Cost Control
• Execute inventory counts, ordering, and receiving
• Monitor food costs, waste, and prep efficiency
• Maintain clean, organized storage and prep areas
• Support cost control initiatives without sacrificing quality
Operational Support
• Partner with the General Manager on daily operations
• Assist with labor planning and BOH scheduling
• Help troubleshoot equipment and operational issues
• Support smooth coordination between front and back of house
Leadership Expectations

• Interest in long term growth within restaurant leadership
Qualifications
• One or more years of kitchen leadership experience in fast casual or high volume restaurants
• Strong understanding of BOH operations and food safety standards
• Ability to lead teams in a fast paced environment
• Strong problem solving skills during busy service periods
• Motivated to grow with a rapidly expanding restaurant group
