Overview

We are growing San Diego based restaurant group is seeking a Director of Accounting to lead the financial and people operations across the organization. This leadership role will oversee accounting, payroll, and HR functions for a multi unit hospitality company with a strong operational culture and high performance expectations.


The organization is focused on building profitable restaurants while maintaining disciplined financial systems and strong internal accountability. The Director will play a critical role in supporting leadership by ensuring financial accuracy, operational transparency, and well structured HR practices across the company.

Compensation

Base salary between 150,000 and 165,000

Performance based incentive structure tied to company performance and operational results.

Position Overview

The Director of Accounting and Human Resources will oversee all financial reporting, accounting systems, payroll functions, and HR operations for the restaurant group.

This leader will manage the accounting and HR teams while ensuring the company maintains strong financial discipline, accurate reporting, and scalable internal processes as the organization grows.

The role requires strong technical expertise in hospitality accounting combined with leadership ability and a hands on approach to problem solving.

The ideal candidate understands the realities of restaurant operations and can translate financial data into actionable insights that improve profitability and operational performance.


Key Responsibilities


Financial Leadership

Oversee accounting operations across the restaurant group including financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls

Ensure accurate and timely financial statements

Provide financial analysis and insights to leadership to support operational decision making

Monitor key restaurant performance metrics including labor, food cost, and store level profitability


Accounting Operations

Manage accounting systems and processes including Sage Intacct and financial reporting tools

Ensure strong accounting controls and accurate bookkeeping practices

Oversee month end and year end close processes

Maintain compliance with financial reporting standards and internal policies


Payroll and HR Oversight

Oversee payroll systems and ensure accurate wage, benefit, and tax reporting

Lead HR administration including employee records, policies, and compliance

Support leadership in developing HR systems that scale with the business

Partner with operations leaders on staffing, organizational planning, and employee development


Technology and Process Improvement

Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements within accounting and HR operations

Implement systems and technology that improve efficiency and reporting accuracy

Develop standardized financial and HR processes that support growth and consistency


Team Leadership

Recruit, mentor, and develop accounting and HR team members

Create clear performance expectations and accountability across the department

Build a culture of professionalism, ownership, and operational discipline


Strategic Alignment

Connect financial performance with broader company goals around profitability, growth, and long term value creation

Support leadership with financial planning and operational insights

Help build infrastructure that supports future restaurant expansion


Ideal Candidate Profile

Strong hospitality accounting experience within multi unit restaurant operations

Deep knowledge of financial reporting, payroll systems, and HR processes

Experience working with Sage Intacct or similar accounting platforms

Advanced Excel and financial analysis capabilities

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Experience leading accounting or finance teams within a restaurant group
