Compensation: $30 per hour plus $2,000 annual bonus (paid quarterly based on performance)

Overview

A well regarded restaurant in La Jolla is seeking a Kitchen Supervisor to support daily kitchen operations and lead from the line. This is a hands on leadership role designed for a strong cook who is ready to step into a supervisory position while continuing to work a station for a significant portion of each shift.

The Kitchen Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining food quality, supporting the culinary team, and ensuring that kitchen standards are executed consistently. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the line, mentoring others, and contributing to a positive and high functioning kitchen environment.

Position Overview

The Kitchen Supervisor reports directly to the Chef and Sous Chef and is responsible for supporting daily kitchen execution, training staff, and maintaining operational standards.

This role requires a balance of cooking, leadership, and organization. The ideal candidate is confident running a station, capable of guiding team members, and committed to consistency and quality in every service.

Key Responsibilities

Line Execution and Culinary Support

Run a station during service while maintaining quality, consistency, and efficiency

Support daily prep, service execution, and kitchen organization

Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented according to standards

Team Leadership and Training

Train and support new kitchen team members

Provide guidance and coaching during service

Help maintain a positive and professional kitchen environment

Operational Support

Assist Sous Chef with daily kitchen operations

Support opening and closing procedures as needed

Ensure kitchen standards, cleanliness, and organization are maintained

Standards and Quality Control

Ensure all food is prepared to quality and consistency standards

Support adherence to food safety and sanitation practices

Maintain discipline around prep systems, organization, and execution

Schedule

Approximately 38 to 40 hours per week

Overtime is generally avoided

Schedule may include evenings, weekends, and peak service periods
