Human Resources Manager

Boone, North Carolina | Full-time, on-site | Reports to the General Manager

Base salary: $65,000–$75,000

A confidential hospitality and wellness retreat destination is seeking a hands-on Human Resources Manager to support its full-time, part-time and seasonal employees. As the primary on-site HR leader, you will balance approachable employee support with consistent policies, documentation and accountability, while coaching department leaders across a varied hospitality operation.

What You Will Do

• Lead full-cycle recruiting, onboarding and employee-lifecycle administration.
• Manage employee relations, investigations, conflict resolution and disciplinary matters with sound judgment and appropriate documentation.
• Support federal and North Carolina employment-law compliance and maintain policies and the employee handbook.
• Oversee payroll coordination with Paychex, benefits administration and insurance-broker communication.
• Coach managers on people issues, performance management and consistent policy application.
• Support supervisor training, employee engagement and retention initiatives.
• Maintain organized, confidential HR records and follow through on employee and manager needs.

Required Qualifications

• Progressive HR experience with meaningful responsibility for employee relations and compliance.
• Hands-on exposure to recruiting, onboarding, payroll and benefits administration.
• Experience supporting an hourly or mixed hourly/salaried workforce and coaching managers.
• Ability to work independently as an on-site HR leader, with strong organization, discretion and communication.
• An empathetic, consistent approach to both employee advocacy and accountability.
• Ability to work fully on-site in Boone and support a respectful, mission-driven wellness environment.

Preferred Experience

• Approximately five or more years of progressive HR experience.
• HR Manager, HR Director, HR Business Partner or broad HR Generalist responsibility.
• Hospitality, resorts, clubs, retreat centers or other multi-department organizations; healthcare, senior living, nonprofits, education and other hourly-workforce environments may translate well.
• Paychex or comparable HRIS/payroll experience; PHR or SHRM certification is helpful rather than required.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base salary of $65,000–$75,000, depending on experience.
• Subsidized employee housing based on availability, subsidized meal plans and employee wellness-program opportunities.
• Subsidized health/dental coverage and paid vacation/sick time after 90 days for eligible full-time employees.
• 401(k) contribution/match after one year, under the employer's plan.
• A realistic commute or relocation plan to Boone is important; housing availability and eligibility will be discussed individually.
