Job Description

GENERAL MANAGER – HIGH-VOLUME RESTAURANT

New Providence, New Jersey | Salary up to 100k

Ready to Run More Than Just a Shift?

A growing restaurant organization in Northern New Jersey is looking for an experienced General Manager who knows how to run a high-volume operation, develop great people, and take full ownership of the business.

This is not a position for someone who wants to manage from the office or simply execute someone else's playbook. We are looking for a hands-on restaurant operator who leads from the floor, understands the numbers, develops managers, and knows how to build systems that make a restaurant stronger.

For the right person, this is also more than a single-unit GM opportunity. The organization is growing, and this position offers a clear path toward multi-unit leadership for a General Manager who delivers results and can help develop the next generation of leaders.

What You'll Own

Restaurant Operations

  • Take full ownership of day-to-day restaurant performance and profitability.

  • Manage a high-volume operation across dine-in, takeout/delivery, catering, and private events.

  • Lead from the floor during peak periods and set expectations for hospitality, execution, speed, cleanliness, and consistency.

  • Own key financial metrics including labor, food cost, prime cost, sales, and overall P&L performance.

  • Build schedules around forecasted sales and business needs while maintaining appropriate labor levels.

  • Oversee inventory, ordering, vendor relationships, and cost controls.

  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability without sacrificing the guest experience or team culture.

People & Leadership

  • Recruit, hire, train, coach, and develop a strong restaurant team.

  • Directly lead and develop both front-of-house and back-of-house managers.

  • Hold managers and team members accountable while creating an environment where people want to perform.

  • Develop high-potential employees into supervisors and managers.

  • Build a leadership bench capable of supporting future growth.

  • Create a culture of accountability without relying on yelling, intimidation, or outdated management practices.

Systems & Standards

  • Develop and improve training programs, checklists, operating procedures, and certification standards.

  • Establish systems that improve consistency across shifts and departments.

  • Improve labor efficiency through better scheduling, deployment, training, and accountability.

  • Help document operational standards, recipes, procedures, and best practices.

  • Use restaurant technology and reporting tools to make informed operating decisions.

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of General Manager experience in a high-volume restaurant, pizzeria, fast-casual, or comparable foodservice environment.

  • Experience leading a restaurant generating approximately $2 million or more in annual sales.

  • Direct P&L responsibility with a strong understanding of restaurant financials.

  • Strong working knowledge of labor percentage, food cost, prime cost, sales forecasting, productivity, and scheduling to volume.

  • Proven ability to hire, develop, and retain strong restaurant teams.

  • Track record of developing employees or managers who have earned promotions.

  • Experience creating or improving training programs, SOPs, scheduling systems, or operational processes.

  • Comfortable with restaurant technology, POS systems, scheduling platforms, spreadsheets, and performance reporting.

  • Strong understanding of both FOH and BOH operations.

  • Food safety certification or ability to obtain certification shortly after hire.

  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and peak business periods.

  • Multi-unit or above-store experience is a plus, but not required.

Who Will Thrive Here

You may be a strong fit if you are the kind of General Manager who:

  • Is on the floor when the restaurant is busy, not watching operations from an office.

  • Understands that strong culture and strong financial performance should support each other.

  • Can look at a P&L and identify where the business is winning and where it needs attention.

  • Develops people rather than constantly replacing them.

  • Creates systems instead of repeatedly solving the same problems.

  • Remains calm when the restaurant gets busy and makes sound decisions under pressure.

  • Wants autonomy and accountability rather than layers of corporate approval.

  • Is ready for a larger opportunity and wants the ability to grow beyond managing one restaurant.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to join a growing restaurant organization where strong operators have room to make an impact.

You'll have meaningful authority over your restaurant, direct access to senior leadership, and the opportunity to contribute ideas rather than simply follow corporate directives.

Most importantly, growth isn't limited to the General Manager title. As the organization expands, the goal is to develop proven internal leaders into multi-unit and above-store positions.

If you're already successfully running a high-volume restaurant and are looking for more autonomy, more opportunity, and a path to the next level of restaurant leadership, we'd like to speak with you.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $80,000–$100,000, based on experience

  • Paid holidays

  • Additional company benefits

  • Career advancement opportunities

  • Path to multi-unit leadership and increased earning potential
