Overview:

Our San Diego campus is seeking a skilled and organized Sous Chef to support high-volume catering operations on an hourly basis. This role is critical in ensuring the seamless execution of catered events by delivering high-quality culinary experiences under pressure. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in banquet-style cooking, exceptional production skills, and a strong commitment to quality. A degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or a related field is preferred.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Event Culinary Production:
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of high-volume catered events, ensuring each dish meets quality and presentation standards.
  • Support the head chef in menu development and adapt to event-specific culinary requirements.
  • Kitchen Operations & Team Oversight:
  • Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff to ensure timely, organized, and efficient food production.
  • Maintain workflow efficiency during events by managing multiple tasks and ensuring clear communication among team members.
  • Sanitation & Safety Compliance:
  • Enforce rigorous sanitation and safety protocols in the kitchen to comply with all health regulations.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is maintained and operated safely.


What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience & Expertise:
  • Proven experience in catering or banquet-style cooking within a high-volume environment.
  • Demonstrated culinary skills with the ability to perform under pressure.
  • Organizational & Multitasking Skills:
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Capable of following detailed event plans and executing services with precision.
  • Team-Oriented & Adaptable:
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit to effectively work with diverse teams.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing event needs and a dynamic kitchen environment.
  • Education & Certifications:
  • A degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant culinary certifications or specialized training are a plus.
