We’re a locally owned retailer with over 75 years in Hawai`i, seeking passionate leaders for three Director roles to oversee sales and merchandising in our grocery stores. Each position offers a $140K base salary, benefits, and bonus, and requires relocation to Honolulu. Travel to stores, neighbor islands, and occasional mainland/international trips is expected, along with a flexible schedule (weekends/holidays).
1. Director of General Merchandise
Lead sales and merchandising for general merchandise. Develop strategies to hit financial targets, curate product assortments, set pricing, and manage inventory. Build supplier relationships, analyze market trends, and ensure team execution aligns with our vision. Requires 3-5 years of grocery retail management experience, a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), and expertise in general merchandise.
2. Director of Liquor
Oversee the liquor department (beer, wine, spirits), driving sales and market share. Craft merchandising plans, manage product assortment and pricing, and maintain supplier ties. Ensure compliance with alcohol regulations, monitor trends, and lead teams to deliver results. Needs 3-5 years of retail liquor management experience, a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), and passion for liquor products.
3. Director of Natural
Manage sales and merchandising for natural foods and products. Execute sales strategies, ensure quality and freshness, and update assortments based on trends. Collaborate with suppliers, control inventory, and uphold safety standards. Requires 3-5 years of natural foods management experience, a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), and knowledge of natural products.
Key Responsibilities (All Roles):
- Partner with sales/merchandising leadership to shape strategy.
- Analyze data, monitor competition, and adapt to customer preferences.
- Recruit, train, and coach teams; collaborate with marketing on promotions.
- Work in office and store settings, lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally.
Qualifications (All Roles):
- Proven leadership in retail, with strong analytical and strategic skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; excellent communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexible for travel and non-standard hours.
Mental/Physical Demands:
- Analyze reports, solve problems, and present to diverse groups.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking; occasional lifting.
