Job Summary

As the Director of Finance, you’ll oversee accounting functions, including cost management, payables, and reporting. You’ll develop and maintain financial planning, budgeting, and reporting systems, ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and uphold internal control policies. Your leadership will guide financial strategy, foster relationships with banking and accounting partners, and support the organization’s mission to deliver exceptional service.

Primary Responsibilities

Lead financial planning, budgeting, procurement, and investment activities for regional hotel entities. Evaluate funding needs, recommend investment strategies, and manage cash flow and reserves. Build and maintain relationships with banking, insurance, and external accounting partners. Oversee internal controls for budget administration, cash, and credit management. Analyze financial performance to identify opportunities for growth and improvement. Conduct or coordinate audits to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Advise leadership on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies. Lead staff training in budgeting and financial management. Reconcile balance sheets monthly and prepare financial statements, forecasts, budgets, and regulatory reports.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field.

Experience: At least 3 years in economic and accounting principles, financial markets, banking, and financial data analysis/reporting. Proven experience managing financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance in multi-entity environments. Prior experience leading multi-departmental teams.

Knowledge: Deep understanding of accounting principles, financial markets, and banking. Proficiency in mathematics (arithmetic, algebra, statistics, etc.). Strong grasp of administrative systems, business management, and strategic planning. Familiarity with computers, electronics, and relevant software.

Skills: Expertise in accounting software (Sage Intacct and Ottimate/PlateIQ preferred) and ERP platforms (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle JD Edwards). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills. Active listening, critical thinking, and active learning. Social skills, including coordination, negotiation, persuasion, and team instruction. CPA licensure, CPA candidacy, or actuarial sciences training strongly preferred.

Abilities: Solve complex problems and make timely, effective decisions. Prioritize, organize, and delegate work assignments. Develop and maintain effective team and vendor relationships. Read and interpret documents, including safety rules and procedure manuals. Work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

Physical Requirements

Sit, stand, walk, bend, twist, and reach for extended periods. Perform repetitive hand motions and grasp objects. Lift and carry up to 20 pounds unassisted. Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and visual/hearing abilities. Reach above, at, and below shoulder level.
