General Manager – Campground Resort
Location: Charlottesville, VA area
Compensation: Strong base salary + bonus + on-site housing + full benefits
We are partnering with a leading outdoor resort to find an experienced and dynamic General Manager for a high-performing family campground and resort property located near Charlottesville, Virginia. This full-time, year-round position is ideal for a hospitality leader with strong operational skills, a guest-first mindset, and the ability to manage a diverse team in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
The General Manager will oversee daily operations, team development, financial performance, and guest experience. This role reports directly to the Regional Operations Manager and serves as the key leader on site.
Key Responsibilities
Resort Operations
- Lead day-to-day resort operations including lodging, recreation, food and beverage, guest services, and maintenance
- Maintain a strong, visible presence throughout the property to ensure safety, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction
- Coordinate with the corporate office to complete requests, initiatives, and special projects
- Ensure all departments are aligned with company standards and operating procedures
Team Leadership
- Supervise, train, and develop department managers and hourly staff
- Build a positive and productive team culture through clear communication and goal setting
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning to meet seasonal and year-round staffing needs
- Monitor employee performance and implement improvement plans when necessary
Financial Oversight
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost control
- Manage labor, food and beverage costs, and other controllable expenses in line with budget goals
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting and compliance with internal controls
Project and Vendor Management
- Oversee capital improvement projects and coordinate with outside vendors
- Maintain high standards for property upkeep, facility upgrades, and safety compliance
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a General Manager or multi-department hospitality leadership role
- Proven track record in team development, operational execution, and financial management
- Background in campgrounds, RV resorts, boutique hotels, or family recreation is preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, guest-facing, outdoor resort environment
