Position Details:
- Position Title: Controller

- Reports To: Director of Finance
Position Purpose:
The Controller will assist and support the Director of Finance in achieving the division’s goals and maintaining adequate internal controls over all areas of hotel operations. This role ensures the timely completion of all reports generated by the accounting team and enforces compliance with company policies and procedures as they apply to hotel operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily finance operations, including preparing month-end and year-end reports, tax reporting packages, and maintaining the books of accounts for owners and the company.
- Prepare and coordinate monthly forecasts and outlooks, including quarterly reforecasts and similar reports.
- Assist in preparing budget forms and completing budget packages.
- Review financial reports in accordance with reporting calendars and ensure timely submission.
- Provide guidance and supervision to accounting employees, including recommending or providing necessary training.
- Prepare general ledger journals, maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations, and perform other general administrative functions.
- Prepare audit schedules, coordinate with external and internal auditors, and assist in implementing audit recommendations.
- Administer all bank accounts, ensure bank resolutions are updated, and prepare treasury reports.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding the primary workplace language.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of computer accounting programs and budgetary analysis.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills, including frequency distribution, variance analysis, and correlation techniques.
- Problem-solving skills to define issues, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance as a controller, director of finance or assistant director of finance in the Hotel and or Property Management industry.
