The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Director of Sales & Marketing to lead and unify the commercial strategy for a highly distinctive, purpose-driven hospitality destination. This is a senior leadership role within a campus-style environment that blends lodging, group programming, events, and transformational guest experiences.

The ideal leader will bring both strategic vision and hands-on execution—someone who can build structure, develop teams, and align sales and marketing efforts around a mission-centric guest experience rather than purely transactional demand.

This role is best suited for a leader who thrives in experiential hospitality, wellness-adjacent environments, or retreat-style destinations and who values long-term growth, culture, and impact.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Leadership & Strategy

  • Own and lead all sales and marketing functions, including group sales, retreat programming support, events, weddings, and transient strategy
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive commercial strategy aligned with the destination’s mission, culture, and long-term vision
  • Balance revenue growth with guest experience, cultural integrity, and brand positioning

Sales Organization & Team Development

  • Build, structure, and lead a high-performing sales and marketing team
  • Clarify roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations across departments
  • Establish disciplined sales processes, CRM usage, and forecasting models
  • Mentor and develop leaders with an emphasis on collaboration and accountability

Group, Retreat & Event Sales

  • Drive group and retreat business across corporate, wellness, educational, and experiential segments
  • Partner closely with programming, operations, and culinary teams to ensure seamless execution
  • Lead pricing, packaging, and contract strategy for high-touch, experience-driven programs

Marketing & Brand Alignment

  • Oversee brand messaging, digital marketing, partnerships, and demand-generation efforts
  • Evaluate and potentially transition outsourced marketing functions to in-house leadership
  • Ensure all marketing reflects the destination’s purpose, values, and guest promise

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with executive leadership, operations, guest experience, and programming teams
  • Serve as a cultural steward—protecting the integrity of the experience while supporting sustainable growth

Ideal Background & Experience

  • 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in hospitality sales & marketing
  • Experience in wellness destinations, retreat centers, experiential resorts, or mission-driven hospitality environments is strongly preferred
  • Proven success building or restructuring sales organizations and commercial systems
  • Strong background in group, retreat, and event-driven revenue models
  • Comfortable operating in complex, non-traditional hospitality environments
  • Experience balancing commercial performance with purpose-led guest experiences
