General Manager – Upscale Fine Dining

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an exceptional General Manager for an award-winning upscale fine dining restaurant located in one of the most exciting and vibrant areas of downtown Detroit. This is an opportunity to join a growing restaurant group that operates both upscale fine dining and fast-casual concepts across the region.

This high-volume restaurant generates $4MM+ in annual revenue and serves approximately 400 covers on a Saturday night with 3 full turns. You'll be walking into a strong situation with a great team already in place, including an exceptional Executive Chef running the kitchen.

The Restaurant

• Concept: Upscale fine dining with exceptional standards
• Location: Prime downtown Detroit location in a rapidly developing area
• Hours: Dinner service only, 6 nights per week
• Volume: High-volume operation with continued growth trajectory
• Team: Approximately 70 total staff members

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $85,000 - $95,000 based in experience
• Bonus Plan: Performance-based incentive program

What We're Looking For

Required Experience:

• Proven track record in upscale fine dining or high-end casual dining operations
• Must have experience with independent restaurant groups (upscale corporate chain experience is acceptable as additional experience, but cannot be corporate-only)
• Demonstrated success in high-volume, high-pressure environments
• Stable work history—no job hopping (looking for candidates who build careers, not collect titles)
• Track record of training, mentoring, and developing staff

Leadership Style:

• Visible and present on the floor with staff and guests—this is not a "back office" GM role
• Extremely personable with exceptional customer service skills
• Ability to connect authentically with guests and create memorable experiences
• Thrives in "controlled chaos" and isn't fazed by high-pressure situations
• Amazing at building successful teams and getting the best out of people
• Creates a welcoming work environment while maintaining high standards

Operational Excellence:

• Obsessive attention to small details (e.g., napkin presentation, place setting calibration, guest recognition)
• Focused on creating experiences that get guests talking and coming back
• Ability to maintain the highest standards consistently
• Full P&L accountability and financial acumen

Preferred Qualifications:

• Wine knowledge (STRONGLY preferred—this is a major asset for this role)
• Sommelier certification or extensive wine program experience is a plus
