General Manager – Panera Bread (Franchise Location)

Compensation: $60,000–$85,000 + bonus potential

Position Summary

The General Manager leads all day‑to‑day operations of a high‑volume Panera café, ensuring an exceptional guest experience, strong financial performance, and a positive, people‑focused culture. This role oversees all front‑ and back‑of‑house functions, develops and coaches the management team, and drives operational excellence in a fast‑paced, bakery‑café environment. The GM is the face of the café and plays a key role in supporting future growth as new locations open.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership — Oversee daily café operations including service, product quality, cleanliness, food safety, and adherence to brand standards.
  • Team Management — Recruit, hire, train, and develop a high‑performing team of managers and hourly associates.
  • Guest Experience — Ensure warm, consistent, hospitality‑driven service across dine‑in, drive‑thru, Rapid Pick‑Up, and catering channels.
  • Financial Performance — Manage labor, food cost, inventory, and controllables to achieve weekly and monthly financial targets.
  • Scheduling & Labor Planning — Build efficient schedules that balance labor needs with sales forecasts.
  • Café Standards — Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment that reflects Panera’s brand values.
  • Catering & Community Engagement — Support catering sales, local partnerships, and community outreach to grow café visibility and revenue.
  • Training & Development — Coach managers and associates, conduct performance reviews, and create growth plans.
  • Compliance & Safety — Ensure compliance with health codes, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Leadership Presence — Lead by example on the floor, supporting both FOH and BOH teams during peak periods.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of restaurant management experience; QSR or fast‑casual experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage operations, and deliver strong financial results.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, guest‑focused environment.
  • Experience with drive‑thru operations is a plus.
  • ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain.
