Purchasing Manager - Hospitality Group

Be a part of a rapidly expanding, multi-state restaurant group with 29+ locations and four commissary kitchens across WA, OR, CA, and TX is seeking a Purchasing Manager/Buyer to support its growing operations. As the company scales, strengthening supply chain and purchasing capabilities is essential to maintaining the high product standards the brand is known for.

Position Summary

The Purchasing Manager/Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing the procurement of food ingredients, packaging, operating supplies, and other essential goods for restaurants and commissary kitchens. This role requires strong experience in the restaurant, foodservice, or food manufacturing industries, with deep knowledge of ingredient sourcing, distributor relationships, and multi-unit operational needs.

The ideal candidate is proactive, detail‑oriented, and skilled at managing vendors, controlling costs, and ensuring a consistent product supply across multiple states.

Key Responsibilities

Purchasing & Procurement

• Source, evaluate, and purchase food ingredients, packaging, equipment, and operating supplies for multi‑state restaurant and commissary operations.
• Maintain accurate product lists, pricing files, vendor records, and order guides.
• Monitor inventory levels and partner with commissary and store teams to ensure consistent availability.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and negotiate favorable supplier pricing and terms.
• Manage purchase orders, delivery schedules, and lead times to prevent shortages or overstock.

Vendor & Supplier Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, distributors, and regional suppliers.
• Evaluate supplier performance regarding quality, reliability, service levels, and cost.
• Onboard new suppliers, negotiate agreements, and secure competitive quotes.
• Coordinate with national broadline distributors (e.g., Sysco, US Foods), produce suppliers, and specialty vendors.

Quality, Compliance & Operations Support

• Ensure all products meet company quality, food safety, and brand standards.
• Collaborate with commissary and operations teams to troubleshoot quality issues or arrange substitutions.
• Support product testing, cuttings, and evaluations for new ingredients or menu changes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with Operations, Marketing, and Commissary teams during new store openings, menu updates, and promotional launches.
• Work closely with Accounting/AP to verify invoices, resolve discrepancies, and maintain price accuracy.
• Assist Supply Chain leadership with demand forecasting based on historical and seasonal trends.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of purchasing experience in the restaurant, foodservice, or food manufacturing industry.
• Proven experience sourcing food ingredients, packaging, and operations supplies.
• Strong negotiation skills and vendor management expertise.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets; experience with ERP or inventory systems (Toast/Extrachef, Odoo, R365) is a plus.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced, multi‑location environment.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
• Experience working with national and regional distributors (Sysco, US Foods, etc.).
• Strong preference for experience with restaurant inventory systems such as R365.
• Knowledge of food safety, ingredients, commissary production, and supply chain processes.
• Multi‑unit restaurant purchasing experience required.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $90,000–$110,000 per year
