Job Description

Job Title: Human Resources (HR) Director

Location: Rego Park, New York

Schedule: Office-base Mon – Thursday; remote on Friday’s

Travel: Approximately 10-15% (Northeast and select national markets, as needed)


Position Overview:

We are seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of Human Resources to lead and elevate the HR functions for a growing, multi-unit organization. This role will serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, partnering closely with the Vice President/General Counsel and other executive team members to align people strategies with business objectives. 

The Director will drive organizational growth through effective acquisition, strong employee relations, and scalable HR processes, ensuring full compliance with employment laws and best practices. This individual will also bring a data-driven mindset, leveraging KPIs and analytics to measure performance and continuously improve HR initiatives. 


Key Responsibilities:

HR Operations & Compliance

• Oversee all HR administration, including employee records, policies, and procedures

• Operate as a highly process-oriented HR leader responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving scalable HR processes and infrastructure to support a growth-oriented, multi-unit organization

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations

• Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies aligned with organizational goals

• Manage and enhance benefits program, ensuring effective communication and administration

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

• Develop and execute comprehensive recruitment strategies to attract and retain top talent

• Oversee full-cycle recruiting, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding

• Partner with department leaders to assess hiring needs and support workforce planning

• Manage relationships with external recruiting partners, job boards, and sourcing channels

Employee Relations & Culture

• Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and employees on HR-related matters

• Foster a positive, inclusive and high-performance workplace culture

• Address employee concerns with professionalism and discretion

• Lead and conduct complex employee relations matters and investigations, ensuring timely, thorough, and well-documented processes that result in consistent and legally defensible outcomes

• Provide coaching and guidance on policies, performance management, and best practices

Payroll & Compensation Administration

• Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing in partnership with finance and third-party providers

• Ensure compliance with payroll regulations, tax reporting, and recordkeeping requirements

• Address payroll-related inquires and resolve discrepancies efficiently

Strategic Leadership

• Establish and track key HR metrics to measure effectiveness and support data-driven decision-making

• Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems, and organizational structure to support growth

• Contribute to overall business strategy as a member of the senior management team


Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field

• 5-7+ years of progressive HR leaderships experience, preferably within a multi-unit, retail, or hospitality service-oriented environment with a large, hourly workforce

• Strong knowledge of employment law, payroll practives, and HR best practices

• Experience managing third-party payroll systems (ADP preferred)

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills

• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

• HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred
