Job Description

Service Manager – New Upscale Restaurant – Leawood, KS

$55,000 – $70,000

A new upscale casual restaurant is opening soon in Leawood, and we’re building the leadership team that will set the tone for service from day one. We’re looking for a Service Manager / Beverage Manager who knows wine, knows hospitality, and wants to help shape a restaurant from the ground up rather than step into someone else’s playbook.

What You’ll Own

•     Floor leadership during service – coaching servers and bartenders in real time, stepping in on tables when it counts, and keeping the dining room running smoothly during a high-profile opening

•     The beverage program – wine list curation input, staff training on wine and spirits, bar inventory, vendor relationships, and pricing strategy

•     Staff training and development – building service standards and wine knowledge from the ground up with a brand-new team

•     Guest experience – handling VIPs, special requests, and the inevitable opening-week curveballs with composure

•     Inventory and cost control – ordering, managing pour costs, and protecting margins on a premium beverage program

What You Bring

•     Solid wine knowledge and a genuine passion for wine matter more than the letters after your name

•     2+ years in a service management, beverage management, or assistant general manager role at an upscale or upscale casual restaurant

•     Experience with high-volume, full-service dining – steakhouse, seafood, or fine dining background preferred

•     Comfort being part of a pre-opening team – building systems and training a staff from scratch, not just maintaining an existing one

•     Strong floor presence and the ability to train, motivate, and hold a team accountable to a high standard

Why This Role

•     Ground-floor opportunity with a brand-new, upscale casual concept in one of the Kansas City area’s strongest dining markets

•     Competitive salary of $55,000–$70,000, based on experience

•     The chance to build a beverage program and a team culture from scratch, rather than inherit one

If you’re ready to help open a restaurant that takes its steaks and its wine list equally seriously, we’d love to hear from you.
