A high-end, classic steakhouse in the heart of New York City is seeking a talented and passionate Assistant General Manager to support the day-to-day operations of the restaurant. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in restaurant management, a love for delivering exceptional guest experiences, and a deep understanding of high-end dining operations. As the Assistant General Manager, you will work closely with the General Manager to ensure the restaurant runs smoothly, drives profitability, and upholds the highest standards of service, quality, and hospitality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the General Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations, including front-of-house and back-of-house functions
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of servers, bartenders, hosts, and kitchen staff, ensuring exceptional service and teamwork
- Monitor guest satisfaction and ensure that all guest interactions are handled with care, professionalism, and attention to detail
- Handle staff scheduling, payroll, and labor management to optimize performance and meet business needs
- Assist in managing restaurant finances, including inventory control, ordering, cost management, and ensuring profitability
- Help implement marketing and promotional strategies to increase guest traffic and brand visibility
- Oversee and enforce the restaurant’s cleanliness and safety standards, ensuring full compliance with health and safety regulations
- Train new employees and provide ongoing development for existing staff, ensuring all team members meet operational standards
- Resolve guest complaints and concerns promptly, ensuring a positive dining experience for every customer
- Maintain and improve service standards, quality, and efficiency through continuous feedback and performance analysis
- Support the General Manager in preparing and executing operational reports, analyzing performance metrics, and setting goals for team improvement
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in a managerial role in high-end or fine-dining restaurants
- Proven ability to lead and inspire teams in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Strong understanding of restaurant financials, including labor cost, inventory, and P&L management
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on creating positive guest experiences
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail under pressure
- Passion for delivering top-tier service and maintaining high standards of food and beverage quality
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Food safety certification (or willingness to obtain)
