A high-volume, rustic-chic restaurant in Sloatsburg, NY is seeking a talented and driven Executive Chef to lead its culinary program. The ideal candidate is a creative, hands-on leader with a deep understanding of seasonal, scratch cooking and a proven track record of managing kitchen operations, developing teams, and delivering memorable dining experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all aspects of kitchen operations, including menu development, execution, and presentation
- Create innovative, seasonal menus that align with the restaurant's concept and appeal to a diverse clientele
- Manage and mentor a team of culinary professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture
- Oversee food purchasing, inventory management, and vendor relationships to ensure quality and cost efficiency
- Monitor and maintain food and labor costs within established budgets
- Ensure strict compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
- Collaborate with FOH management to maintain seamless service standards and guest satisfaction
- Lead by example during service, expediting and assisting as needed to uphold consistency and quality
- Hire, train, and develop kitchen staff, conducting regular performance reviews and coaching sessions
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as an Executive Chef or Chef de Cuisine in a full-service restaurant
- Strong culinary background with expertise in scratch cooking, seasonal ingredients, and kitchen systems
- Proven ability to lead and inspire kitchen teams in fast-paced environments
- Exceptional organizational, time management, and communication skills
- Proficiency in inventory control, food costing, and kitchen scheduling
- ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification preferred
- Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
