A high-end, chef-driven restaurant in New York City is seeking an Executive Chef with deep expertise in Asian cuisine. This leader will oversee all culinary operations, shape menu development, and uphold exceptional quality and consistency across a dynamic, high-volume kitchen. The ideal candidate brings creativity, strong team leadership, and a passion for authentic, technique-driven cooking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all back-of-house operations, including culinary execution, menu development, and kitchen leadership.
- Create innovative, seasonally inspired menus rooted in Asian cuisines—ensuring authenticity, consistency, and elevated presentation.
- Train, mentor, and develop kitchen staff at all levels, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and accountability.
- Oversee food quality, flavor profiles, and plating standards to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
- Manage inventory, purchasing, vendor relationships, and cost controls, maintaining targets for food and labor costs.
- Implement and enforce all food safety, sanitation, and DOH compliance standards throughout the kitchen.
- Collaborate closely with leadership teams on operational planning, budgeting, and culinary strategy.
- Maintain strong kitchen organization, workflow efficiency, and professional discipline during high-volume service.
- Lead culinary team through menu rollouts, tastings, training sessions, and special events.
- Drive continuous improvement in recipes, processes, and overall kitchen performance.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of leadership experience as an Executive Chef or Senior Sous Chef, preferably in high-end or upscale Asian cuisine.
- Deep knowledge of Asian culinary traditions, ingredients, techniques, and regional flavor profiles.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire large kitchen teams in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong financial acumen, including food cost management, ordering, budgeting, and vendor communication.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thrive under pressure while maintaining high standards.
- Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
