Job Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and dynamic Restaurant Assistant Manager to help oversee daily operations at our Charlottesville, VA  location. This role is critical to ensuring exceptional guest experiences, supporting the restaurant manager, and maintaining smooth front-of-house and back-of-house coordination. The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong leadership skills, a passion for hospitality, and a drive to exceed operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

  • Support the Restaurant Manager in supervising and motivating staff, including servers, hosts, and kitchen teams.

  • Assist with hiring, training, and scheduling employees to ensure proper shift coverage.

  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment while addressing staff concerns and resolving conflicts effectively.

Guest Experience

  • Ensure excellent customer service by responding to guest feedback and resolving issues promptly.

  • Monitor dining areas to ensure cleanliness, organization, and service efficiency.

  • Lead by example, modeling top-notch hospitality and professionalism.

Operations & Efficiency

  • Oversee daily restaurant operations, ensuring smooth coordination between front-of-house and back-of-house teams.

  • Monitor opening and closing procedures to maintain consistency and efficiency.

  • Assist with event planning and execution for special occasions or group bookings.

Inventory & Cost Management

  • Help manage inventory levels for food, beverages, and supplies, minimizing waste and staying within budget.

  • Collaborate with the kitchen team on menu updates and pricing strategies to maximize profitability.

  • Maintain accurate records of sales, expenses, and staff performance for reporting purposes.

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, health codes, and workplace safety protocols.

  • Conduct regular inspections to maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the restaurant.

  • Train staff on safety procedures and food handling practices to prevent risks.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in restaurant management or a similar leadership role in hospitality.

  • Leadership: Strong ability to guide, train, and inspire a diverse team.

  • Customer Service: Passion for delivering an exceptional guest experience and resolving issues effectively.

  • Organization: Strong multitasking and time-management skills to handle the fast-paced restaurant environment.

  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and communicate with staff and guests.

  • Problem-Solving: Quick thinker who can address challenges and implement solutions on the spot.
