A growing restaurant group in San Diego is seeking a strong Assistant General Manager to support operations and develop into a General Manager role as the company continues to expand.

This is a high impact leadership position within a dynamic, fast paced environment that requires strong operational awareness, team leadership, and a commitment to continuous improvement. The organization is looking for a hands on leader who can support daily execution while learning the full scope of running a restaurant at a high level.

This role is ideal for a candidate who is ready to step into a true number two position, gain deeper exposure to the business, and grow into a General Manager role over time.

Position Overview

The Assistant General Manager supports all aspects of restaurant operations including service execution, team leadership, guest experience, and financial performance.

This leader will work closely with ownership and senior leadership, gaining direct exposure to operational systems, leadership strategy, and long term business development. The role requires someone who can take initiative, solve problems, and contribute meaningfully to both daily operations and long term growth.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

Support daily restaurant operations with a strong presence on the floor

Assist in managing service flow, pacing, and overall execution

Maintain high standards for hospitality, cleanliness, and presentation

Help ensure consistency across all shifts and service periods

Team Leadership and Development

Support hiring, training, and development of team members

Help build a strong, accountable, and positive team culture

Provide coaching and feedback to improve team performance

Lead by example and reinforce expected behaviors

Guest Experience

Ensure a strong, consistent guest experience rooted in hospitality

Assist with guest interaction and service recovery as needed

Help create a neighborhood driven environment that builds repeat business

Financial and Business Support

Assist in managing labor, cost controls, and operational efficiency

Support overall restaurant performance and profitability

Learn and apply key business fundamentals that drive long term success

Leadership Development

Work closely with senior leadership to learn systems and operational structure

Gain exposure to the full scope of running a restaurant business

Prepare for future General Manager responsibilities as the company grows

Ideal Candidate Profile

Strong leadership experience in high volume restaurant environments

Experience as an Assistant General Manager or senior manager level preferred

Ability to rally a team and create a positive, energetic work environment
