Sous Chef – Millwood, NY

Position Summary:
The Sous Chef is responsible for supporting all kitchen operations, ensuring consistent food quality, efficient execution, and strong team leadership in a fast-paced, high-quality dining environment. This role works closely with the Executive Chef to manage daily kitchen functions, maintain standards, and develop culinary staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service during all meal periods
  • Support the Executive Chef in menu execution, recipe consistency, and food presentation standards
  • Lead, train, and supervise kitchen staff including line cooks and prep cooks
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, cleanliness, organization, and sanitation
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety and health regulations
  • Oversee food preparation, line execution, and timing during service to ensure consistency and speed
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering, receiving, and stock rotation to control costs and minimize waste
  • Monitor kitchen labor and food costs to support budget goals
  • Step into any kitchen role as needed to support operations during peak service times
  • Help develop and implement new menu items and seasonal specials in collaboration with leadership
Qualifications:
  • 2–5 years of kitchen experience, with prior supervisory or sous chef experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of kitchen operations, food safety, and sanitation standards
  • Ability to lead and motivate a culinary team in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Culinary training or equivalent experience preferred
