Director of Food & Beverage |Poughkeepsie, NY | Up to $90,000
A growing not-for-profit entertainment and events organization in the Hudson Valley is seeking an experienced Director of Food & Beverage to lead and develop F&B operations across multiple venues, including a convention and event center, sports complex, and an exciting new large-scale entertainment venue currently in development.
This is a year-round leadership position for a hands-on F&B professional who combines strong operational and financial discipline with culinary creativity and the ability to build, train, and lead successful teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee food and beverage operations across multiple entertainment, sports, and event venues
- Take a leadership role in developing the F&B program for a new large-capacity entertainment venue scheduled to open in 2027
- Develop creative, operationally efficient menus appropriate for high-volume and event-driven environments
- Manage inventory, purchasing, product usage, waste, and cost of goods
- Establish effective inventory controls and reporting systems
- Analyze F&B performance using Excel, Google Sheets, POS and inventory data
- Recruit, train, schedule, develop, and lead seasonal and year-round F&B teams
- Create operating procedures that support consistency, efficiency, food quality, and guest satisfaction
- Partner with operations and event leadership to successfully execute conventions, sporting events, special events, and high-volume programs
- Anticipate operational challenges and solve problems proactively without requiring constant direction
- Evaluate existing systems and recommend technology or process improvements as the organization grows
Ideal Candidate
- Strong food & beverage management experience in restaurants, hotels, convention centers, entertainment venues, sports facilities, catering, or high-volume event operations
- Culinary knowledge with experience in menu development and food execution
- Strong understanding of food cost, inventory management, purchasing, labor, and operational controls
- Comfortable working with Excel, POS systems, inventory software, scheduling platforms, and digital reporting tools
- Proven ability to recruit, develop, motivate, and hold teams accountable
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to remain calm and decisive during high-volume operations
- Creative and entrepreneurial mindset with the discipline to build scalable systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working in an evolving environment where flexibility and problem-solving are essential
