AREA DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

MICHIGAN/OHIO

BASE SALARY: $75K

BONUS:

  • 10% of profits for any new location that they open.
  • 5% of profits for any existing location that they take over.
  • 1% Sales bonus for each new restaurant during the time that they are acting as the GM/OP and personally operating that specific restaurant. Once the ADoO promotes a GM/OP, this 1% goes to the GM/OP of the restaurant.

Role:

The Area Director of Operations (ADoO) is a vital member of the leadership team and plays a crucial role in the success of Our Culture and Our Company.

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of the ADoO is to Recruit & Select, Train & Develop and Retain a Team of 

Great People who embrace Our Mission, embody Our Why, exemplify Our Values, execute Our Model, and attain Our Goal in their area.

The ADoO will achieve this by focusing on the following Priority Performance Practices.

Coaching and Teaching.

New Store Opening Responsibilities:

The ADoO is personally responsible and takes a hands-on involvement in the day-to-day operations of 

each new store opening through: 

1. ADoO interviews and is personally involved in the selection of Our Teammates with the GM/

OP during the pre-opening period.

2. The ADoO is personally involved in the pre-opening training of new Teammates, preparing 

them to become Great People Preparing Great Food, Providing Great Service, Producing 

Great Results & Great Rewards, Pouring into Great People.

3. Once open and until restaurant #2 goes on site, the ADoO works as the OP, hands-on each shift,

day-to-day, from the opening training period until such time that s/he deems the restaurant is 

consistently executing GPpGFpGS at an acceptable level.

4. The ADoO works as the OP, hands-on each shift, day-to-day, working fair and balanced 

schedule in accordance with the Leadership Experience Commitments.

5. Once the restaurant is executing at a SSS level and the 2nd restaurant is going on site, the 

ADoO turns the restaurant over to the GM.


Ongoing Responsibilities:

The priorities of the ADoO daily are:

1. Recruit & Select, Train & Develop and Retain a Team of Great People.

2. Hands-on Involvement – The ADoO are in their restaurants every day, a minimum of five days 

per week. While in the restaurant, The ADoO rolls up their sleeves, are hands-on and 

personally involved in working with Our Teammates to Prepare Great Food and Provide Great 

Service to Our Customers.

3. Role Model and Mentor – The ADoO Coach & Teach, Train & Develop first and foremost. The 

ADoO provides feedback and guidance to their GM/OPs from each shift that they work 

through direct face-to-face feedback, as well as submit Unit Visit notes from each visit. The 

ADoO also provides ongoing training and development programs for all Our Teammates.

4. Organization Structure and Communication – The ADoO provides clear and timely 

communication to all Teammates in all areas of responsibility (salary and hourly). This is done 

through weekly/monthly 1:1s with each Leadership Teammate, Unit Visit Notes 

after every visit, monthly Great Food Meetings, Great Service Workshops, GM/OP Meetings 

and other forms of communication.

5. Develop and Promote at all levels

ADoO Warrior Work Ethic Expectations:

1. The ADoO is expected to work in their restaurants 5 days per week for a minimum of 9 hours 

each day. (No "Fly Bys" or short shifts for a couple of hours).

2. The ADoO is expected to contribute and be involved in both AM and PM Line Checks, both 

AM and PM Prep Huddles, both AM and PM Huddle UPs while Coaching & Teaching Our 

Teammates.

3. The ADoO is expected to have hands-on involvement each shift with 51% of their time spent in 

the Dining Room or GS Expo Engaging with Our Customers.

4. The ADoO is expected to review the Weekly GP&GR Report every week with their GM/OPs.

5. The ADoO is expected to submit Unit Visit Notes from each restaurant visit.

6. The ADoO is expected to have Weekly 1:1s with their GM/OPs.

7. The ADoO is expected to attend and contribute to a restaurant Leadership Team Directional 

every week.

8. The ADoO is expected to not have scheduled Office Days, Project Days, Event Days or RE 

Days as workdays.

9. The ADoO is expected to work hands-on, in the restaurants, on Holidays and busy sales 

days/weeks – Drive the Five (Mom’s Day, AFD, Dad’s Day, 911, 11/11), Super Bowl Sunday, 

Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, etc.

10. The ADoO is expected to contribute and have an active involvement, behind the counter 

approach, in Great Food Meetings and Great Service Workshops.

11. The ADoO is expected to review the Leadership Development Plans with all 

salaried Leaders Bi-Annually in January and July.

12. The ADoO is expected to be on the entire All Hands-on Deck Conference Calls, 

undistracted while taking notes and then discuss the topics from the call weekly with the 

GM/OPs.

13. The ADoO is expected to visit a Team of Teams restaurant in another area two times per year.

14. A new ADoO is expected to fill out the weekly scorecard for a minimum of six months.
