Job Description

Beverage Director – Award-Winning Fine Dining Restaurant

San Francisco, CA

Salary: $90,000 – $115,000

Full-time | On-site

An award-winning San Francisco restaurant is seeking an experienced Beverage Director (Wine Director / Head of Beverage) to lead and evolve one of the country’s most distinctive beverage programs. Working alongside the Executive Chef and ownership team, you will shape a beverage experience deeply connected to our cuisine, our producers, and the seasons of Northern California.

Our tasting-menu restaurant is built around thoughtful sourcing, preservation, and a close relationship with the land. The wine and beverage program reflects those same values through an extensive wine cellar, non-alcoholic pairings, house fermentations, and ongoing curiosity for ingredients, craftsmanship, and hospitality.

This is a hands-on leadership role for a sommelier or beverage leader who is equally passionate about wine service, mentorship, and continual refinement.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full beverage program: wine list and cellar, spirits, beer, tea, coffee, and non-alcoholic pairings
  • Curate seasonal beverage pairings for the tasting menu in close collaboration with the kitchen
  • Manage purchasing, inventory, costing, and cellar organization
  • Set and maintain service standards for wine and beverage on the floor
  • Lead team education, tastings, and mentorship for sommeliers and dining-room staff
  • Develop house fermentations and non-alcoholic offerings that match the restaurant’s culinary point of view
  • Work with ownership on beverage P&L, vendor relationships, and program strategy

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of wine, spirits, beer, tea, coffee, and non-alcoholic beverages
  • Proven experience leading a Michelin-level or similarly ambitious fine-dining beverage program in San Francisco or a comparable market
  • Strong pairing, storytelling, and guest-engagement skills
  • Exceptional organizational and financial management skills (inventory, COGS, cellar)
  • Collaborative leadership style and a genuine desire to mentor a team
  • Curiosity, humility, and a commitment to continual improvement
  • Wine credentials (CMS, WSET, or equivalent knowledge) are a plus

Hospitality here extends beyond the dining room. We value integrity, craftsmanship, generosity, and respect for the people who produce what we serve. We are looking for a Beverage Director who shares these values and is ready to help shape the next chapter of this San Francisco restaurant.

Location: San Francisco, California

Compensation: $90,000 – $115,000 annually
