Job Description
Job Title: Executive Director of Sales
Location: New York / Northeast (regular travel to properties in Malibu, CA and the Hudson Valley, NY)
Salary: $175,000 to $185,000 base plus 20% to 30% target bonus
What We're Looking For:
A celebrated luxury wellness retreat brand with properties in Malibu and the Hudson Valley is seeking an Executive Director of Sales to own its sales strategy and execution for 2027 and beyond. Reporting directly to the President, this leader oversees group sales and two leisure sales representatives, and partners closely with programming and partnerships, guest relations, revenue strategy and marketing. This is a hands-on role for a seller who still loves to sell: closing the larger buyouts personally, traveling with the team and hosting advisors on property, while running the business from pace, channel data and displacement.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the annual sales plan for both properties, including channel mix, room-night targets and forward strategy
- Lead the Director of Group Sales; build the pipeline, price groups against budgeted rate for the same dates, and personally close larger buyouts
- Set and manage leisure targets, scorecards and event attendance for East and West Coast representation; build a top-25 travel advisor circle
- Lead the brand's presence at Virtuoso Travel Week, ILTM North America and Fora Forum
- Manage consortia memberships and new distribution channels (SLH, Expedia, Booking.com) alongside revenue and systems leadership
- Fill need periods (Malibu summer, Hudson Valley winter) with value-adds rather than discounting
- Chair the weekly pace call and report channel production by source, agency and advisor monthly through Salesforce
- Partner with programming and partnerships to sell the program and partnership calendar to groups and advisors
Qualifications
- 8 to 10+ years in luxury hotel or resort sales, with at least 3 years as Director of Sales or above, ideally across more than one property
- Established relationships with Virtuoso, Signature, Smartflyer, Fora and leading independent advisors, with a record of growing advisor production; broader consortia relationships a plus
- Proven success closing buyouts and leadership retreats in a small-inventory setting
- Destination spa or wellness resort experience strongly preferred
- Analytical and data-driven, with clear reporting to ownership
- Based in or near New York and willing to travel regularly to both properties and key industry events
