Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Kitchen Manager to oversee the daily kitchen operations in our Roanoke Va location. Key Responsibilities
Team Management
- Supervise and lead kitchen staff, including cooks, prep chefs, and dishwashers.
- Hire, train, and develop kitchen personnel to ensure high performance.
- Create and manage staff schedules, ensuring adequate shift coverage.
- Foster a positive and motivating work environment, addressing any staff issues and resolving conflicts effectively.
Food Preparation and Quality
- Oversee food preparation, ensuring strict adherence to recipes and portion control.
- Monitor food quality and consistency, maintaining our high presentation standards.
- Ensure proper food temperatures and adherence to safe food handling practices.
- Collaborate on menu development and recipe innovation to drive customer satisfaction.
Inventory and Ordering
- Manage kitchen inventory to prevent waste and maintain cost efficiency.
- Order supplies and ingredients as needed while monitoring inventory levels.
- Ensure proper storage and rotation of food supplies for optimal freshness and safety.
Health and Safety Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with food safety regulations and health codes.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment, adhering to safety protocols.
- Implement safe food handling and storage practices to minimize risks.
Cost Control and Strategy
- Monitor food costs and labor expenses, ensuring they remain within the set budget.
- Identify cost-saving efficiencies and strategies to optimize operations.
- Maintain detailed records of inventory, food preparation, and costs for auditing purposes.
Additional Responsibilities
- Coordinate seamlessly with front-of-house staff to provide smooth and efficient service.
- Work with vendors to negotiate prices and ensure the quality of ingredients.
- Participate in menu planning, offering creative input to enhance customer satisfaction.
Ideal Candidate
- Experience: Proven experience in a kitchen management or similar leadership role in the food and hospitality industry.
- Leadership Skills: Strong ability to supervise, train, and motivate a diverse team of kitchen staff.
- Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of food safety regulations and culinary techniques.
