Position Overview
Join a growing artisan bakery and restaurant concept with a strong community presence, is preparing to open a new location in Washington, DC. They are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead front-of-house operations and drive an exceptional guest experience. This role is ideal for a hospitality professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and leads with both operational precision and genuine passion for people.Role & Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring the smooth functioning of the restaurant and bakery.
- Manage the front-of-house team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Conduct regular training sessions for FOH staff, emphasizing excellent customer service standards.
- Analyze labor costs and adjust scheduling to optimize efficiency while staying within budget.
- Handle payroll reconciliation, ensuring accuracy in hours worked, tip submissions, and PTO.
- Perform labor analysis and reporting to monitor and manage labor costs effectively.
- Oversee liquor inventory and ordering, ensuring compliance with legal and company standards.
- Utilize advanced knowledge of the Toast POS platform for menu updates, reporting, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure accurate tracking of sales, labor, and inventory through the POS system.
- Train staff on POS features to maximize operational efficiency.
- Lead by example to inspire and motivate the team, promoting accountability and professionalism.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to staff.
- Resolve employee and customer issues promptly and professionally.
- Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality food and service.
- Monitor guest feedback and implement improvements to enhance the dining experience.
- Uphold cleanliness, safety, and health standards throughout the operation.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a supervisory or management role in the food service industry, preferably in a bakery or restaurant environment.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
- Excellent communication skills — verbal and written — with the ability to interact effectively with customers, staff, and vendors.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in point-of-sale systems; Toast POS experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
