Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and motivated Executive Pastry Chef for our 110-room full-service luxury resort located in the picturesque town of Cooperstown, New York. This role is pivotal in delivering exceptional pastries, desserts, and baked goods that delight our guests and elevate our culinary reputation. The ideal candidate will combine their artistic flair with strong management capabilities to oversee operations, inspire a talented team, maintain the highest food quality and safety standards, and contribute to the hotel’s overall success.

 

Responsibilities

  • Curate, design, and produce an extensive array of world-class pastries, desserts, and baked goods tailored to the refined tastes of a luxury clientele and in line with international standards.
  • Develop and update sophisticated menus featuring seasonal, signature, and bespoke offerings for VIP guests, private functions, and exclusive hotel events.
  • Select, coach, and lead an expert pastry team, fostering a performance-driven culture that prioritizes excellence, creativity, and continuous skill development.
  • Cultivate an inspiring environment where staff are empowered to innovate while upholding the standards of a five-star hotel.
  • Oversee the seamless execution of all pastry operations, ensuring meticulous attention to detail, superior cost management, and tight timelines for large-scale banquets or intimate, high-profile gatherings.
  • Guarantee consistency in presentation and flavor, reflecting the hotel's reputation by delivering flawless creations for distinguished guests and international dignitaries.
  • Maintain elite supplier relationships, sourcing the finest ingredients to elevate the guest experience.
  • Uphold uncompromising standards in kitchen hygiene, food safety, and sanitation by luxury hospitality best practices and international regulations.
  • Conduct comprehensive quality assurance checks to maintain premium standards and protect the hotel’s culinary prestige.
  • Partner with the Executive Chef and cross-functional teams to deliver pastry concepts that complement the hotel’s brand and exceed the expectations of discerning guests.
  • Elevate the hotel’s profile by participating in industry competitions, collaborating on signature guest experiences, and providing expert input for marketing, media, and public relations initiatives.

 

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Pastry Arts, Baking, Culinary Arts, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in high-end pastry operations, including at least 2 years in a leadership role from a hotel, resort, private club, or restaurant.
  • A background in hospitality or luxury hotel environments is highly desirable.
  • Expertise in a wide range of pastry techniques, including traditional and modern methods.
  • Strong organizational and management skills, with the ability to handle high-pressure situations.
  • A passion for creativity, innovation, and exceptional guest experience.
